What is Hololight Space?

What makes Hololight Space unique and how does it work

Hololight Space is an XR (Extended Reality) engineering application that allows you to visualize, interact with, and collaborate on complex 3D CAD models in augmented and virtual reality. Designed specifically for industrial use, it brings immersive, real-scale 3D experiences to AR and VR devices—without compromising on model complexity, visual quality, or data security.

Hololight Space helps engineers, designers, and decision-makers gain deeper insights into their products by providing a fully immersive environment where they can inspect, review, and interact with original CAD data in real time.

What Makes Hololight Space Unique?

Unlike traditional XR tools that require file conversions or data simplification, Hololight Space allows you to work directly with native 3D CAD files—no optimization needed. This preserves model fidelity and supports real-world engineering workflows.

Hololight Space is powered by Hololight’s proprietary XR streaming technology, which separates rendering from the XR device. Models are processed on a powerful local server or cloud machine and then streamed as pixels to mobile headsets. As a result, users can interact with highly detailed 3D data—even on lightweight, wireless devices like Meta Quest or HoloLens 2.

How Does Hololight Space Work?

Hololight Space uses a client-server architecture:

  1. Rendering Happens on the Server
The application runs on a Windows-based machine with a dedicated GPU. You load your 3D model into Hololight Space here.
  2. Pixel Streaming to XR Devices
Instead of transferring the model or the app to the device, Hololight Space streams the rendered images to the XR headset. Only pixels are transmitted—no sensitive data leaves the server.
  3. One Application for AR and VR
Whether you’re using augmented reality (like HoloLens 2) or virtual reality (like Meta Quest), Hololight Space adapts to the device, providing consistent functionality and experience.
  4. Interaction in XR
On the headset, users can explore and manipulate the model in full scale with a lot of tools. For example:
    • View exploded parts
    • Take cross-sections and measurements
    • Detect collisions
    • Leave annotations
    • Compare model versions
    • Align virtual models to the real world using spatial anchoring

    Benefits at a Glance

    • No Model Simplification
Work directly with your original CAD data—without losing detail or accuracy. See all supported file formats in our support base.
    • High Performance on Lightweight Devices
By offloading rendering to external hardware, mobile XR devices are no longer a limitation. Done by our very own XR Streaming technology
    • Secure by Design
CAD files and intellectual property stay on the secure server; only pixels are streamed to the headset.
    • Cross-Team Collaboration
Multiple users can join sessions simultaneously, improving communication and accelerating design decisions.
    • Supports Real-World Use Cases
Use it for design reviews, ergonomic studies, quality assurance, prototyping, and more—across the full product development process.

Hololight Space is more than a viewer—it’s a productivity tool for engineers and designers who want to bring their 3D data into the real world and make better decisions, faster.
