How do I download and install Hololight Stream Clients?

Supported devices and how you install clients

On this page, you will find all the necessary steps to successfully install Hololight Stream on your XR device. In general, there are two ways to install the client:

  • The easiest method is through the store, if your device has an internet connection.

  • Alternatively, you can install the client via sideloading with a windows computer, meaning you download the client from our website and install it manually.
Please select your XR device to begin installing the Hololight Stream Client.

HoloLens 2

You can download Hololight Stream Client directly from the Store inside of your HoloLens 2.

  1. Using your HoloLens 2, open Microsoft Store.
  2. Select the search bar at the top of the store window. Search “Hololight Stream”.
  3. From the results that appear, select Hololight Stream.
  4. Select the Get Button to download

You can also download Hololight Stream Client from our website and install it with the Windows device portal.

  1. Using an internet browser, go to the Hololight downloads page.
  2. Select Hololight Stream. Under Clients & add-ins find the link under Newest version for Hololight Stream Client HoloLens 2. Select this link to start your download.
  3. Right Click the downloaded ZIP file and hit "Extract all"
  4. Before continuing, make sure your HoloLens 2 is turned on. PC and your HoloLens 2 need to be connected to the same network.

  5. To find your HoloLens 2’s IP address, navigate on your device to: Settings > Network & Internet > Properties > Scroll Down for your IPv4 adress

  6. On your PC, using an internet browser, type in the IPv4 address of your HoloLens 2 to access Windows Device Portal.
  7. In Windows Device Portal, navigate to Views > Apps.
  8. In the Deploy apps section, select Local Storage.
  9. Under Select the application package, select Choose File and browse to the folder you extracted from the ZIP file you downloaded.
  10. Open the folder Hololight_Stream_v<VERSION_NUMBER>_Master.
  11. Select the file Hololight_Stream_<VERSION_NUMBER>_arm64_bundle_Master.appxupload.
  12. Select Install to start the installation.

 

Meta Quest

You can download Hololight Stream Client directly from the Store inside of your Meta Quest 2/Pro/3/3S.

  1. Using your Meta Quest device, go to the universal menu and select Store.
  2. When the store appears, select the magnifying glass icon.
  3. Enter “Hololight Stream” into the search bar.
  4. One of the top results should be Hololight Stream under Apps & Games. Select it.
  5. On the Hololight Stream page select the Get button to download and install the application.

You can also download Hololight Stream Client from our website and install it with the Meta Quest Developer Hub. Please install this tool before continuing and follow the steps described Meta's Page Get Started with Meta Quest Developer Hub.

  1. On the PC you are running Meta Quest Developer Hub, using an internet browser, go to the Hololight downloads page.
  2. Under Clients find the link under Newest version for Hololight Stream Client Meta Quest. Click the link to start your download.
  3. Connect your Quest with USB-C to the PC.
  4. Allow the USB Connection inside the Meta Quest device.
  5. Open the Meta Quest Developer Hub.
  6. Once the APK file is downloaded, click Add Build in the Device Manager
  7. Select the downloaded APK file and click open
  8. Wait until the Installation.

In some cases the Meta Quest requires a restart after sideloading an app. So please restart your device and then you can open Hololight Stream in your App Library.

PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise

You can download Hololight Stream Client directly from the Store inside of your PICO 4 Ultra.

  1. Turn and put on your PICO 4 Ultra (Consumer Store) or PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise (Business Store).
  2. In the Main Menu click Store
  3. In the top left corner click on the magnifying glass icon.
  4. In the search bar type in "Hololight Stream"
  5. Select Hololight Stream from the Search Results
  6. Hit Install

You can also download Hololight Stream Client from our website and install it by sideloading.

  1. Download the latest PICO 4 Ultra Client from our download section.
  2. Turn your PICO 4 Ultra on.
  3. Connect the PICO 4 Ultra with a USB-C Cable to your PC.
  4. Open your Windows Explorer and navigate to This PC > PICO 4 Ultra > Internal shared storage > Download

  5. Copy and Paste the APK you downloaded from our website to the download folder, as shown in the screenshot.
  6. Put on your PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise and open the file browser in the main menu.
  7. Navigate to APK files.
  8. Click on the Hololight Stream.apk file and hit install

If you already have a version of Hololight Stream installed on your PICO 4 Ultra and want to update it via sideloading, you must uninstall the old version first.

 

HTC VIVE

You can download Hololight Stream Client directly from the Store inside of your HTC Vive XR Elite, Focus Vision or Focus 3.

You can also download Hololight Stream Client from our website and install it by sideloading.

  1. Download the latest Hololight Stream Client from our download section.
  2. Turn on your HTC Vive device.
  3. Connect the HTC Vive device with a USB-C Cable to your PC.
  4. Inside the device allow the connection and choose File Transfer to continue.

  5. Open your Windows Explorer and navigate to This PC > Device Name> Internal shared storage > Download

  6. Copy and Paste the APK you downloaded from our website to the download folder, as shown in the screenshot.
  7. Put on your HTC Vive device and open the settings menu in the main menu.
  8. In the left sidebar click Storage.
  9. In the middle of the menu, click File Browser

  10. Click Downloads
  11. Click on Hololight Stream Client to install.

If you already have a version of Hololight Strean installed on your HTC Device and want to update it via sideloading, you must uninstall the old version first. In some cases the HTC Vive device requires a restart after side-loading an app. So please restart your device and then you can open Hololight Space in your App Library.


Apple iOS and Apple visionOS

The only way to download and install Hololight Client on iOS and visionOS devices is through the Apple Store. There is no way to sideload apps to iPhone, iPad or Apple Vision Pro.

Desktop Client

You can download the Hololight Stream Desktop Client directly from our website and install it on your windows computer.

  1. Download the Desktop Client Installer from our download section
  2. Double Click the .exe file
  3. Accept the license terms and click next

  4. Choose wether to create desktop shortcuts (Recommended)
  5. Click install - If windows prompt appears click yes to continue.

  6. Wait for the installation to complete.
  7. If you created a shortcut, double-click the Hololight Stream Client icon on your desktop.

  8. Enter the IP address of the PC running your Hololight Stream instance and click Connect.
  9. In Settings, select the controller type you want to visualize.

Web Client

Supported Web Browsers

There may be circumstances where these browsers don’t work with Hololight Stream Client. Through testing, we confirmed that Hololight Stream Client will work in the following situations:

Compatibility on Microsoft Windows 10 and 11
Google Chrome Version 137.0.6998.45 (Official Build (ARM64)
Safari Version 18.1.1
Compatibility on MacOS
Google Chrome Version: 134.0.698.45 (Official Build (ARM64)

This guide walks you through setting up the Hololight Stream Web Client using a free web server on a windows computer as an example.

  1. Download Hololight Stream Web client in our download section
  2. Extract the folder with Right click > Extract All
  3. Download and install SimpleWebBrowser from the Microsoft Store
  4. Create a new server
  5. For the folder path select choose path
  6. Double-click the extracted folder and select the subfolder named “Stream-Client-Web-2025.0.0”.
  7. Check the box "Accessible on local network"
  8. Click "Create Server"
  9. Get your IP Adress with Pressing Windows Key > Enter "Command Prompt" > Open command prompt > Type "ipconfig" > Press Enter > Look for IPv4
  10. In a supported web browser, enter your IPv4 address, followed by the port (default is 8080).
    1. Example: 192.168.50.180:8080

Magic Leap 2

Magic Leap doesn't have a dedicated store. Meaning you have to sideload Hololight Stream Client.

    1. Download the Magic Leap Hololight Stream Client from our downloads section.
    2. Download, install, and open the Magic Leap Hub on your PC.
    3. In the Magic Leap Hub, click on Device Bridge.
    4. Power on and put on your Magic Leap 2 headset.
    5. Connect the Processing Unit to your PC using a USB-C cable.
    6. On the Magic Leap 2, allow the USB connection when prompted (a pop-up will appear after the cable is connected).
    7. Once connected, your Magic Leap 2 will appear in the Device Bridge.
    8. In Device Bridge, go to App > Install App.
    9. Select the Hololight Stream Client file you downloaded earlier.
    10. After installation, you can launch Hololight Stream Client directly on your Magic Leap 2.

    Lenovo ThinkReality VRX

    Lenovo Thinkreality VRX doesn't have a dedicated store. Meaning you have to sideload Hololight Stream client.

    1. Download the Lenovo VRX Hololight Stream Client from our download section
    2. On your Windows PC open the Microsoft Store
    3. Search for "App Installer for Mobile"
    4. Download and Install the installer and follow the instructions
    5. Select the Client .apk file you downloaded

    6. Click on Settings and deactivate "For WSA only"
    7. Go back
    8. Turn on your Lenovo Thinkreality VRX and connect it with a USB-C Cable to your PC
    9. Allow the USB Connection inside your Lenovo VRX
    10. Hit Install in the installer
