What regions are available for Hololight Hub Cloud sessions?
See which regions are supported, how machine types differ, and which devices work best where
- California, USA
- North Virginia, USA
- Dublin, Ireland
- Frankfurt, Germany
- Tokyo, Japan
The region you choose can affect the quality of the connection between Hololight Hub Client and the session. The most important factor here is the location of the session relative to the location of the user connecting with Hololight Hub Client. A user in Philadelphia connecting to a session running in California will a have a different experience than a user in Seoul connecting to that same session.
The machine type a region uses to host application sessions also affects session performance. Each region uses one of two types of machine instances. We rate machine types either "High" or "Medium". These ratings show the machine types' relative performance power. Machine types labeled "High" will run more complex applications better than those labeled "Medium".
Additionally, we recommend certain machine types when using specific XR devices. For example, machine types rated "Medium" provide a better experience when using the Microsoft HoloLens 2 than the Meta Quest 3. Use the table below to find which region has the machine type that works best with the device you want to use.
The following table shows which machine type is used in which region, the GPU the machine type uses, the machine type’s performance level, and which client device we suggest using when connecting to sessions in that region:
Region | Machine type | GPU | Machine type performance level | Suggested device |
California, USA | G4dn | NVIDIA T4 | Medium | Microsoft HoloLens 2 |
North Virginia, USA | G6 | NVIDIA L4 | High | Meta Quest 3 |
Dublin, Ireland | G4dn | NVIDIA T4 | Medium | Microsoft HoloLens 2 |
Frankfurt, Germany | G6 | NVIDIA L4 | High | Meta Quest 3 |
Tokyo, Japan | G6 | NVIDIA L4 | High | Meta Quest 3 |
When choosing a region for your application session, you should take the following factors into consideration:
- The location of the application session relative to the client device, so you can reduce latency.
- The machine type available at a region, so you can anticipate whether the application has enough resources to provide a smooth experience.
- The machine type available at a region that best suits the client device you want to use.
The following table shows the technical specifications for the machine types available for hosting application sessions in Hololight Hub Cloud:
Machine type | vCPU | Number of vCPUs | RAM | GPU |
G4dn | AMD EPYC 7R13 | 16 | 64 GB | NVIDIA L4 |
G6 | Intel Xeon P-8259L | 16 | 64 GB | NVIDIA T4 GPU (16 GB vRAM) |
