HOW WE DO IT
Hololight Streams Pixels, Not Content
Even modern XR devices struggle with large industrial data, and processing sensitive files on AR/VR headsets is a security risk. That's why Hololight streams only pixels, never the data itself:
Images rendered by the engine (e.g. Unreal Engine, Unity 3D, NVIDIA Omniverse, Autodesk VRED, KeyShot) are pixel-streamed to the AR/VR headset. The pixels are encoded and encrypted before being transmitted over the network to the XR device.
The device then decodes the pixels and displays the images in their original quality. These rendered images of your application can be streamed from a local PC, the cloud, or a local server, without being limited by the performance of the headset.
-
Unmatched Performance
VR streaming enables high-end visual effects by rendering externally and sending only pixels to the headset.
-
Device-Agnostic by Design
Stream apps to all major AR and VR headsets, making deployment fast and effortless across devices.
-
Uncompromised Data Security
Thanks to VR streaming, your data never leaves your infrastructure and is never stored or processed on the headset.
-
Faster XR Development
Test directly from the engine's editor and connect from your AR or VR headset without time-consuming test builds.
Real solutions
Hololight Makes AR and VR Work for Enterprises
Enterprises want to use AR and VR with real data, real models, and real workflows.
In practice, XR initiatives often struggle with device limitations, data handling, and the complexity of scaling across teams and environments. XR streaming addresses these challenges by separating applications from devices and making XR practical at enterprise scale.
No More Sensitive Data on XR Devices
AR and VR headsets are often shared or used across locations. With XR streaming, no data is stored on the device, only images are displayed and all data stays in your infrastructure.
Stream Industrial Models At Full Size and Complexity
Industrial models and digital twins often exceed the capabilities of AR and VR headsets. XR streaming shifts the heavy processing to workstations or servers, enabling smooth visualization of large models without extensive data preparation.
Stay Ahead of a Rapidly Changing Device Landscape
XR hardware evolves quickly and teams use different headsets. XR streaming bridges applications and headsets, allowing apps to work across all major devices and remain compatible as new hardware is introduced.
Remove the Complexity of Scaling XR
Scaling XR across teams and use cases can become unmanageable. Hololight's streaming technology provides a central foundation that bridges apps and devices, while the platform Hololight Hub enables centralized management.
PERFORMANCE
Use High-Detail 3D Content with VR Streaming
Work With Complex Models
Large industrial digital twins can easily overwhelm AR and VR headsets. With VR streaming your powerful PC or server renders everything while the headset simply displays the result. This lets you work smoothly with multi-million-polygon models without reducing complexity or changing your workflow.
Use High-End Visual Effects Without Device Limitations
Realistic lighting, shadows, reflections, and ray-traced visuals often exceed what AR and VR devices can produce on their own. Hololight Stream removes this limitation by letting your external hardware handle advanced rendering and visual effects. Your headset receives only the final image, so even the most demanding scenes look exactly as intended, without sacrificing quality or performance. With DirectX 12 support, you can stream photorealistic ray-traced scenes in real-time directly to your end device.

FAQ
Learn more about XR Streaming for Enterprises
-
Does Hololight support VR streaming?
Yes. Hololight's XR streaming technology supports VR streaming as well as AR streaming. For both, rendering happens on powerful backend hardware, so the headsets receive high-quality visuals without local processing.
-
Which XR streaming technology does Hololight use?
Hololight has developed theri own XR streaming technology. It is a powerful pixel streaming solution for augmented and virtual reality apps, optimized for the usage in industrial and enterprise environments. XR Applications can be streamed via Wifi, 5G or Lifi networks.
-
Why do I need to stream AR and VR applications?
Streaming removes the need for data preparation, avoids performance bottlenecks on headsets, supports more complex models, and ensures no sensitive data is stored on the device.
Typically, the performance of mobile AR/VR devices is limited, as is the size and complexity of industrial 3D content (e.g. machines, cars, airplanes). To allow users to see all the details of their 3D objects and avoid time-consuming data preparation, lower level of detail (LoD) or polygon reduction, Hololight provides unique integrated streaming technology. This way, XR applications run on more powerful local servers or in the cloud and pixelstream content in real time to the XR device. Because the data is stored on IT-managed servers, sensitive data stays protected, increasing data security.
AR/VR Streaming is also essential for future-proofing your enterprise XR strategy, because it decouples your applications from specific headset hardware. As new devices enter the market or existing ones reach end of life, your XR workflows continue to run unchanged on powerful backend systems.
-
How secure is XR streaming for enterprise use?
XR streaming keeps applications and data on your IT infrastructure, while only the rendered images are streamed to the AR/VR headset. This means sensitive data is not stored or processed on the end device itself.
This architecture is well suited for enterprise and industrial environments and can also be applied in highly regulated or sensitive contexts, such as the defense sector, where strict security requirements apply.
