Set up Hololight Space

 

Hololight Space is an industrial 3D CAD data visualization application for mixed-reality devices. These devices offer transformative workflows through virtual reality, augmented reality, or a mixture of the two. In order to leverage the most power possible, Hololight Space works by streaming the application to client devices like the HoloLens 2 and Meta Quest 3 from a more powerful server computer. Because of this, Hololight Space offers high-end visuals on any device as long as it can run the Hololight Space client.

Since there is a server machine that runs Hololight Space and a client application on your chosen mixed-reality devices, you will need to set up both a server machine and a client device with the correct application for each.

 

 

Hololight Space relies on the server application running on a Windows-based machine sharing a network with a supported device running the Hololight Space client. The client sends position data and inputs to the server and receives visuals and audio in return. Once you have Hololight Space running on your server machine and the Hololight Space client on a supported device, you can connect to Hololight Space with your client device and begin using Hololight Space.

Download and install Hololight Space on a server machine

Before you begin, make sure to first choose your server machine and make sure you have access to it. This server machine can be anything from a normal desktop PC or laptop to a computer running on a server rack as long as it has a Windows operating system. It’s also important that your Hololight Space server machine has a powerful enough graphics processing unit (GPU) to handle the 3D models you want to load.

Once you choose your server machine and have access, you are ready to get started.

 

  1. Using an internet browser on your server machine, go to the Hololight downloads page.
  2. Select Hololight Space. Under Server find the link under Newest version. Select this link to start your download.
  3. Open the file when it finishes downloading. Select the Install button on the window that opens.
  4. When the installation finishes, select the Finish button.

 

With Hololight Space fully installed, it will appear alongside your other Windows applications. Simply search Hololight Space with Windows Search to quickly find and open it.
