HOW IT WORKS
A Technical Overview of XR Streaming

Hololight's XR streaming  is an advanced XR pixel streaming solution designed to offload rendering from mobile or standalone XR devices to powerful external servers.

Images rendered by the engine (Unreal Engine, Unity 3D, NVIDIA Omniverse, Autodesk VRED, KeyShot) are pixel-streamed to the XR device. The pixels are encoded and encrypted before being transmitted over the network to the XR device. The device then decodes the pixels and displays the images in their original quality. These rendered images of your application can be streamed from a local PC, the cloud, or a local server, without being limited by the XR device.

This process ensures that no security-sensitive data is transferred, stored, or processed on the XR device. Hololight supports all major AR and VR devices.

DEVELOP FREELY
Build XR Applications Without Device or Performance Limits

Accelerated XR Development

Test directly from the engine's editor by clicking the play-button and connect directly from the XR device, without the need for time-consuming test builds. This saves valuable time and resources, enabling the rapid development of even highly complex 3D applications.

Utilize External Hardware

Overcome XR device limitations and leverage the full power of servers or the cloud by utilizing external hardware. This enables high-end visual effects, such as ray tracing, even on mobile devices, without relying on their native processing power.

Device-Agnostic Deployment

Develop XR applications with a device-agnostic approach and benefit from fast and effortless deployment. Any XR device, supported by Hololight Stream, can be added seamlessly and used instantly.

Multi-Engine Support

Integrate XR streaming into your existing workflow regardless of which engine or tool you use. Whether your project is built in Unreal Engine, Unity 3D, or any other OpenXR-compatible application such as Autodesk VRED or NVIDIA Omniverse, XR  streaming can be added without modifications to your existing project or pipeline.

INTEGRATION
Stream from Your Existing 3D Tools and Engines to Any XR Device

Hololight's XR streaming technology is compatible with a wide range of 3D applications and rendering engines via OpenXR. The application runs on the server as it normally would, with the streaming layer operating independently underneath it. No changes to the application itself are required.

Once configured, you can start any OpenXR-supported application, click the XR button, and connect with your AR or VR device.

ENTERPRISE-READY
XR Streaming Infrastructure Built for Security, Flexibility and Control

Maintain Security Standards

Your 3D applications remain untouched, as they never leave the data center or the cloud. There is no interference with internal security standards, and no storage or processing of the 3D application on the end device.

FLEXIBLE DEPLOYMENT

Deploy on your own infrastructure, in the cloud, or in a fully air-gapped environment with no external internet connection required. The deployment configuration adapts to your organization's infrastructure and security requirements, not the other way around.

CENTRALIZED XR MANAGEMENT

Manage all XR applications and devices from a single platform. Hololight Hub centralizes application deployment, device oversight, and user management, eliminating the fragmented systems and manual overhead that typically come with scaling XR across teams and locations.

FUTURE-PROOF XR Strategy

The XR hardware market shifts fast. Because applications are decoupled from devices, any new hardware can be added to an existing deployment without rebuilding or reconfiguring anything on the application side.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Deployment Options and Server Requirements

The server application runs on Windows and can be hosted on a local workstation, a cloud instance, or fully on-premise infrastructure. For air-gapped environments with no external internet connectivity, the system operates entirely within the internal network. The client side is the same across all configurations.

Recommended Server Hardware

Hardware requirements scale with the target XR device and the complexity of the rendering application. Hololight validates performance on workstations equipped with NVIDIA graphics cards.

Component Recommendation
Operating System Windows 10 / Windows 11
CPU Intel Core i7 9th Gen / AMD Ryzen 7
GPU From NVIDIA RTX 2070 / Quadro RTX 4000 to RTX 4090 / RTX 6000 ADA depending on device.
Cores 6
RAM 16 GB
VRAM 8 GB

INFRASTRUCTURE
Security and Network Compatibility

With Hololight, the pixel stream is the only thing that crosses the network. The 3D application, its assets, and all associated data remain on the server throughout the session. Transmitted frames contain no recoverable application data.

Hololight's XR streaming technology is built on WebRTC, the open real-time communication standard used across browsers, operating systems, and devices. End-to-end encryption is part of the protocol by default. Latency is optimized for real-time interaction. The system works within standard corporate network infrastructure, including environments with firewalls and network address translation, without requiring dedicated connections or custom network configuration.

For security-critical environments, air-gapped deployment means no data leaves the internal network at any point.

Recommended Network Configuration
Network Wi-Fi 6
Frequency 5 GHz
Bandwidth Min. 40 Mbit
Round Trip Time Max. 50 ms
Encoder Bitrate 10 – 100 Mbps
